Children are shown sitting on the sidelines, watching the 1949 May Day Parade as it marched down 8th Avenue.  The marchers generally assembled on the side streets in the West-Forties and marched down 8th Avenue to 17th Street, where they turned east and entered Union Square which contained the reviewing stand and the speakers.
